Version 1c Instructions

1
Download the ZIP file Click the Download button below and save the ZIP file to your computer.
2
Extract the files Right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All. Keep all the extracted files together in the same folder. Do not run the .exe directly from inside the ZIP.
3
Configure your radio's CAT settings On the FT991A, press MENU then select SETUP. Navigate to these two menu items and set them as shown:
  • Menu 031 — CAT RATE: set to 38400 bps
  • Menu 032 — CAT TOT: set to 1000 msec
These settings must match the program or the connection will fail.
4
Connect your radio Connect your FT991A to the computer using a USB cable. Windows 10/11 installs the Silicon Labs CP210x USB driver automatically — no separate driver download is needed.
5
Find your COM port Open Windows Device Manager and expand Ports (COM & LPT). Look for Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge “Enhanced” COM Port (COM X). Write down that COM number — you will need it in the program. See FT991A_Setup.docx for screenshots and additional setup steps.
6
Run the program Double-click FT991A_RigControl_V1c.exe. (You will get warning about opening it, open it anyway.) Select your Enhanced COM port from the dropdown, set Baud to 38400, make sure RTS is checked, then click Connect.
7
Test and report Operate the program normally. Report any problems, unexpected behavior, or suggestions using the feedback links at the bottom of this page.

⚠️ Version 1c Software Notice
